We are approaching the end of the year! It seems like the year happened in just snap! While business owners are busy preparing for their year-end reports, everyone else is so preoccupied with their thoughts about what to buy this coming holiday season. 13th pay and bonuses are coming and people can’t stop to panic buy. Now let me ask you one question—are you one of the people waiting for 12.12 event to happen on Shopee and Lazada? Do you allot your money to buy Christmas gifts before the year ends? Since you will only have this chance once a year, it’s time to think twice whether you are going to use your money for online shopping or starting to invest.

For you to be able to decide whether you are going to shop online or invest, think of your goals next year. Is it to buy a new property? To start traveling? To buy a new phone? To pay your tuition fee? Regardless of what type of goal it is, you need to base your decision on it because this is the only way you will get motivated to choose the right option. If you are saving up for something with value in the future, then you will be obligated to invest first before spending your money on 12.12 events.
Do you have any idea how much are you going to get in the coming weeks? If you are not into investing yet, try to allot a small portion of your bonus in your savings account, which you can use later on to start investing when you have decided which portfolio to buy. It’s normal to have trouble choosing between online shopping and investing. I get it, I’ve been in that position before. My advice to you if you can’t choose is to divide your money so you will have something to spend on online shopping and something to invest in.
What are you buying? Is it something useful and valuable? Would it help you in the next 5-10 years? When you are deciding whether to spend or not, ask yourself if the stuff you are going to buy will benefit you for the long-term. If it’s just going to be a waste after months, then don’t go for it. You deserve a valuable thing that can help you earn. You must buy something that will help you build your financial freedom little by little.
